Frequently Asked Questions

This is what all students should bring each day to make sure they are comfortable, safe, and ready to sail:

• Lifejacket (properly fitted)
• Sunscreen (please apply before arrival and pack extra)
• Hat for sun protection
• Refillable water bottle
• Lunch and snacks for the day
• Bathing suit or clothes that can get wet
• Change of dry clothes
• Closed‑toe shoes
• Water shoes/booties or shoes that can get wet (Crocs work well)
• Towel
• Inexpensive sunglasses (optional but highly recommended)

If your child is sick or needs to miss a day, please let us know by email at greatershediacss@gmail.com. Emails are checked daily at 9:30 am, Monday to Friday.

Drop off starts at 9:00am and we start our day at 9:30am. Pickup is at 4:30pm.

If it is your child's first time sailing and they are between the age of 5-7 years old you should register them in Wet Feet, if they are between the age of 8-17 you should register them in CANSail level 1. 

The sailing school owns a fleet of C420's, Optimist's, and Open Skiff's. Many Sailors also own their own ILCA sailboats and choose to bring them for the summer.

Every Wednesday is a fun Theme Day where sailors and instructors can dress up and get creative, and we also offer a BBQ with hamburgers (2.50), cheeseburgers (3.00), hot dogs (2.00), and Mr. Freeze freezies (1.00)—please send cash, ideally in small bills and close to the exact amount.

Yes! The sailing school is open 5 days a week rain, shine, or holiday!
